Delivery idea
Use the Rugby World Cup to raise awareness of civil rights issues.
How to do it
Investigate Apartheid in South Africa. Did a similar situation exist in any other countries? What was the view of Africans towards Rugby during Apartheid and why did they have such a view? How did Nelson Mandela use Rugby to help unite South
Africa? Was his strategy supported by his people? The tasks could take the form of individual projects, group presentations or a group play/sketch.
When/ where to use it
This project could be used at any time to support the curriculum.
